Welcome!

We are a group of homebirth midwives and apprentices unified in our passion to empower women and families through providing holistic and client-centered midwifery care

We believe that pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes that have the potential to positively transform every family.   We uphold that the pregnant woman is the decision-maker and support her right to fully understand, choose, and take responsibility for the practitioner, birthplace, and procedures used during her pregnancy and birth.

We value continuity of care; personalized and thorough prenatal appointments establish a relationship of trust that continues throughout the labor, birth and for many weeks postpartum.  Prenatal care is comprehensive and includes physical and emotional assessment, nutritional counseling, risk screening,  preparation for labor, and breastfeeding education.

As midwives, we provide hands-on and family-centered labor support and are on-call 24/7 for our clients.  We acknowledge that birth is an intimate and sacred journey; the quality of care we give reflects this reverence.  Throughout labor, we assess the mother and baby by monitoring physical and emotional well-being.  We are trained in emergency procedures, but respect the wide range of normal and provide low intervention care.  Families report feeling a strong sense of connection and empowerment after gently welcoming their newborns in the safety and comfort of their own homes.

Postpartum midwifery care is regular and personalized; we evaluate both the mother and baby during visits and are available to provide ongoing breastfeeding and parenting support.  Many midwives also provide family planning and well-woman consultations.

Like all professionals in the same field, midwives differ in their specific philosophies and approach to care.  We value this diversity and our collective offers many practitioners for families to choose from.  In addition to providing midwifery services, our collective also enjoys engaging in dialogue and instigating change within the greater Sonoma county birth and parenting communities.
